Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of Dyaan (the “Service”), a web application at dyaan.org that reads public Earth-observation archives and reports what it measures. By using Dyaan you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
What Dyaan is
Dyaan turns free, public satellite and open geospatial data into plain-language readings — vegetation, water, terrain, land cover, air quality, waste and more. Every figure is measured from a named public source and is reproducible. Availability depends on those upstream archives; when a source is unavailable Dyaan reports the failure rather than inventing a number.
Not professional advice, not legal proof
Dyaan is a satellite and open-data screening tool. Its readings are indicators, not certified measurements. In particular: active-fire detections are provisional and are not a substitute for official emergency information; water-quality readings are optical proxies, not laboratory tests; encroachment and land-cover readings are signals of development, not legal proof; and elevation-based flood screens are terrain indicators, not hydrological forecasts. Do not rely on Dyaan as the sole basis for any safety-critical, financial, legal or regulatory decision. Confirm with a qualified professional and ground data before acting.
No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Acceptable use
- Respect the licences and usage policies of the upstream sources, including OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim usage policy.
- Do not attempt to circumvent the per-request read ceilings, or use Dyaan to bulk-mirror or scrape upstream archives.
- Do not use the Service unlawfully, to infringe others’ rights, or to present its readings as official or certified data.
- You are responsible for the account you create and the areas and reports you generate.
Data, attribution & your content
Readings are derived from public sources under their own licences (for example OpenStreetMap under ODbL, ESA WorldCover under CC BY 4.0, and Copernicus, NASA and JRC open data). When you reuse Dyaan’s outputs, keep the source attributions shown with each result. Areas and notes you save remain yours; you grant Dyaan only the permission needed to store and display them back to you.
Plans and billing
Dyaan offers a free tier. Where paid plans are available, you are charged only after you explicitly choose and confirm a plan — no payment method is collected and no charge occurs otherwise.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dyaan and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any decision taken in reliance on the Service’s readings.
Changes
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
